WE SUPPORT THE JR IDITAROD

The Junior Iditarod Race is designed as a educational program for young mushers with dreams of running the full IDITAROD. The Junior Iditarod is 160 miles long and open to youngsters between the 7 ages or 14 to 18 years. At 18, the mushers can enter the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, measuring 1,049 miles, from Anchorage to Nome.

Junior Iditarod mushers travel the actual Iditarod Race Trail for 80 miles out to Yentna Station, camp overnight, then return the 80 miles Settler's Bay in Wasilla. Their is a banquet dinner for the   junior races, the awards being scholarships. The winner will participate in the ceremonial star of the Iditarod Race in Anchorage.

For more information about this race, a list of entrants, how to enter, and how to support the Junior mushers visit www.Iditarod.com. Check out the annual race buttons, which we have been designing since 1999. These buttons are $10 each + shipping and the proceeds support the mushers. For more information about the upcoming race button contact: Mabel Flodin, P.O. Box 671269, Chugiak, Alaska 99567 or call (907) 688-7111. Below is a past race button, attached to a dog bootie.
