Our 2010/2011 Schedule...

• June 23, 2010 - We welcome the summer conference of Iditarod's  Teachers on the Trail  to our home/ studio/ and kennel for a tour and dinner.

• July 31, 2010 - We will be in Homer at the Art Shop Gallery for a one day show .    

• August -  Jon and Jona will start work on our Swiss photographer friend's book. Ruedi Homberger's book will be about the Wrangell mountains and his 20    year affair climbing, flying and photographing the area. Jona will write the text and Jon will be doing the spot sketches for the book. It is to be published by the    University of Alaska Press.      

• September 12th.- 17th.  We will be in Nome to return the 1909 Sutter trophy to the Carrie McClain Museum,  and for Jon's induction into the Pioneer of Alaska Lodge    Igloo #1 Nome, Alaska.    

• Frye Art Museum Seattle, Wa. June 19th - September 19th 2010 - "Northern Latitudes. An exhibitaion of important Alaskan Artists" including "Into the Flats" part
    of 15 original works by Jon Van Zyle purchased by the Frye Art Musuem through the years.

The Van Zyles will also be hosting the Habitat for Humanity summer builds throughout the summer with monthly dinners and open-house tours.

Some of our projects & passions for 2010...

• This is Jona's 10th year designing the Junior Iditarods race support button. They can be purchased at Iditarod Headquarters in Wasilla,
   Alaska.

• Jon & Jona support the Junior Iditarod Race with art & auction items

• Jon & jona sponsor Junior Iditarod musher, Carole Keller & her team.

• Jon & Jona proudly sponsor mushers Martin Buser and DeeDee Jonrowe as well as Iditarod's Teacher on the Trail Program.

• Jona has designed this years "Pink Noses to Roses, 2009 Trip to Nome!" T-shirts availble on DeeDee Jonrowe's web site.

• Jona designed DeeDee's limited printing, fundraiser cachets for the 2009 Iditarod, which will be sold on DeeDee's web site.

• Jona is currently working on more one of a kind jewelry and containers for upcoming exhibitions.

• Jona is involved with the 2009 Iditarod Footprint Project with Providence Neo-natal Unit & The March of Dimes.

• Jona & the Anchorage Philatelic Society are helping DeeDee Jonrowe with a fundraiser, designing a limited edition cachet/trail mail to be   carried in this years Iditarod. Details to purchase one of these cachets will be on DeeDee's web site.

• Jon will provide the art for the annual Wells Fargo bank t-shirts

• Jona is supporting Iditarod and the Junior Iditarod with numerous auction items of her sewing, leather and beadwork.

• Jon has desiged the Alaska Decoration of Honor for fallen soliders. Given to all KIA since statehood. Presentation ceremony was May 23rd 2009.

• Jon has completed 25 illustrations for 2 new books..."Survival at 40 Below" by Debbie Miller published by Walker & Company,
   NY and "Three Dogs, Two Mules and a Reindeer" by Marjorie Cochrane, published by Mountain Press, Montana. These 2 books are now in print and     available at your local book store and our web site.

• Jon is currently working on 3 new books. "Sea Baby" by Ellen Levine author of over 20 books. Book is to be published by Walker & Company, NY. ...."Survival at    120 Degrees Above" (a companion book to "Survival at 40 Below") both written by Debbie Miller, illustrated by Jon Van Zyle to be published by Walker &    Company, NY. ....the 3rd book entitled "My Wrangell Mountains" a coffee table book with beautiful photographs by well known Swiss photographer, skier,    mountain climber, Rheudi Homberger. Book is written by Jona Van Zyle with thumbnail sketches by Jon Van Zyle. In addition, University of Alaska Press is    re-publishing the popular childrens book "Raven & River" by Nancy White Carlstrom. Jon has painted a brand new cover for this book. • To answer many people's questions...yes, the 2011 Official Iditarod poster original has been completed...

• Another new book illustrated by Jon "Mardy Murie Did" written by J.P. McDaniel, published by Rowman & Littlefield.....due out Jan 2011.
